Boise You Ignorant Slut

I warned you all back in June, I told you again just a week later, I repeated my warning here, and here. Bronco village has some seriously overinflated self worth issues that all stem from their general ignorance of the football world outside of the WAC/MWC bubble they inhabit. I hope you all were paying attention. I hope you all get it now, I gather you've seen it for yourself in the twitterverse (@bluturf anyone?) These fans live in a fantasy world.

Take the latest evidence for example. From the OBNUG blog, a preseason top 25 poll conducted by a esteemed panel of Boise State fans shows that the Broncs either have a wicked sense of humor, are incredibly stupid, or just plain ignorant. More plausibly they are influenced by all three traits, but just take a look at that BSU preason top 25 will you.

Ok, did you have a good look..Now ignoring the obvious homerism of ranking themselves #1 (showing they have a sense of humor)
I noticed some other rankings that prove my points above. Ladies and Gentlemen, according to this poll the average BSU fan believes:
a) Georgia Tech (21) should be ranked above Georgia (ignorance)
b) NEVADA is a top 15 team, ranked at 14, 10 spots above Georgia (stupidity)
c) Akron is a top 20 team ranked 18, 6 spots ahead of Georgia (humor)
d)NC State is a top 25 team  at 23, (ignorance or stupidity? Can most bsu fans even locate NC on a map?)
e)Georgia, Hawaii, Mich St, Kentucky Arizona, Northwestern and Kansas State are all equally mediocre in a 7 WAY TIE FOR 24th  (ignorance, stupidity and humor)
f) others receiving votes:Texas, Florida, TULSA, Miami (OH) (take your pick)

Now Ludakit over at Dawgnation makes a great point today with regard to the smurfs ranking Tech above GA and their overall dismissal of Georgia as a quality opponent in general.  Kit if you remember was the first to make the brilliant STD metaphor of what losing to the Broncos would mean to us.
Now, I can handle a lot of things, but one thing I can't fathom is how in the world you ranked Georgia Tech ahead of Georgia in your OBNUG poll. Now, I know there's some bias in there, but with the incredibly weak schedule you normally play......wouldn't you want to bring the Dawgs up some, just for argument's sake? Come on guys, you can't even fight the good fight for yourself. Looks like you're going to have to really hang 85 on Toledo if you're going to get ANY respect this year.
Is this type of cutting off your nose to spite your face stupidity or ignorance, I think that's a grey area. I've had BSU fans ask me with sincerity if my Georgia G was for Georgia Tech which on the surface would point to stupidity, but the seemingly self-destructive behavior evident in this ranking would seem to indicate ignorance of the poll system and how it works.

Folks..read this slowly and let it sink in:....Nevada ahead of Georgia....now that would be funny if it weren't so stupid...but Akron ahead of Georgia? See that's where those silly bastards get us to take a breath and laugh. The rest of the poll goes so far off the tracks I honestly don't know what personality trait to attribute to attach to the rankings. I mean Tulsa also receiving votes along with Texas and Miami of Ohio? I feel as confused as 80 yr old republican watching the Colbert Report for the first time. Is this real? Is this ironic? Is this self mockery?

The conversations up here center not on IF Boise beats Georgia but on how many touchdowns will Boise beat Georgia by. The victory is a foregone conclusion.  What type of environment do these people grow up in? What shapes their opinions and beliefs about the world of college football? Let me try to explain.

These are folks who are used to seeing their team win football games; lots of them and by lots of points usually. There are 6 year old brainwashed kids who think the Broncos belong in the NFL and who don't even know what the SEC is (I'm looking at you Jerry). Playing a WAC schedule the Broncos have amassed an incredible number of victories the last ten years against inferior opponents. Most of the fans leave the games at halftime because the games are usually over by then. I had a BSU fan tell me that because most starters are pulled in the 3rd and 4th quarters it unfairly limits their gaudy stats; that had Kellon played more 4th quarters he would have won the Heisman last year (see the crazy sneaking in?) So imagine for a second that our schedule year in and year out was filled with the likes of Hawaii, Idaho, LA Tech, NM State. Now remember the feeling of invincibility that follows a dismantling of a competitor. How did you feel after clobbering Wyoming, Boise State, Louisiana Lafayette and all the other no-names? Everything is better after a victory like that. It doesn't matter how bad the other team is, suddenly your defense is awesome; your quarterback is a Heisman candidate and your O-Line is NFL caliber. Now hold on to that feeling you get and magnify it by 10-11games a year. Now imagine that feeling every game for every season  for the last 6-8 years. Next throw in some geographical and cultural isolation into that mix and you have yourself a lethal cocktail of perceived self importance and unawareness with few external checks and balances. Would you have a inflated sense of self worth as a fan and about your team? Yeah probably you would.
To paraphrase Afton Nelson:
What happens when people think so highly of themselves that they feel others are not giving them the respect or attention they deserve? If they've been told that they are wonderful and great and not to let anyone tell them differently, they may chose denial or act out when someone clues them in to their imperfections.
So here is a self congratulating fan base so used to winning they cant fathom a loss to our Dawgs.  A fan base with so few points of external reference they place conference mate Nevada in the top 15 to justify their one loss of last year. What happens when that fan base interacts with others from the outside world? They deny and act out of course (hello again blutuf!) I've come to the professional conclusion that the Bronco Village suffers from:

Just consider the symptoms:
  • Has grandiose sense of self-importance
  • Is preoccupied with fantasies of success, power, brilliance
  • Believes self to be “special”
  • Requires excessive admiration
  • Has a sense of entitlement
  • Is inter personally exploitative
  • Shows arrogant, haughty behaviors
Folks I'm not a pshycologist but damn if that doesn't really nail every single trait I've seen from these fans since I've lived here and especially over the last few frenzied days on twitter. But its not all fun and games, these types of folks usually spell trouble in the end. The narrative often ends badly for the affected.  Afton goes further with her studies:
Studies of violent behavior show that high self-esteem is more associated with violence than is low self-esteem. Look back at one of the most horribly violent people in history. Do you think Hitler suffered from low self-esteem, or from an over-inflated view of himself and all those like him? Nazism was based on the idea that certain people were superior to others.....Yikes!
So there you have it Dawgfans. I have now just compared Boise State fans to Hitler and Nazism .. Fox News would be so proud of me.

On a different note, I leave for Atlanta on a 6am flight next Wednesday with my BSU homer brother in law and his BSU homer friend.  My bro in law has a good head on his shoulders;  he lived with me in Atlanta for 3 years so he got himself a football edumacation, but his friend is beyond hope. He drinks the blue and orange bronco kool aide and has told me on several occasions with a straight face that he believes the Broncs could have won the last 4 national championship games.  They both will be tailgating with us across the street from the dome on Northside Drive. (just down the road from twittergate)  I invite you over for good drink and conversation with one, and you are free to sucker punch the other.

  1. Um... You're obviously the ignorant one if you didn't even read the damn article.

  2. M. Haddox, Oh I read the article alright. I get that some parts of that poll are "just vote for your favorite mascot" and "rank the teams alphabetically" The problem is; looking at that poll, its hard to tell where the humor ends and the ignorance starts. As generally has been my experience when discussing football with bronco fans.

  3. Oh, the humor never ends with us!

  4. Did Georgia Tech go 6-7 also?

Both those teams are lucky to be even ranked...well Georgia anyway.

Boise fans wouldn't have ranked them, but since they're playing them, we decided to rank an unworthy team.

  5. jackwagon,

We are humbled by your generosity.
We are lucky to be ranked indeed. Ga Tech on the other hand has no business being in anyones top 25, in jest or otherwise.

  6. Ok sounds like it's time for me to go over to OBNUG and lob in some snarky hand grenades and get 'em going

  7. You can forget going to OBNUG and posting anything. They currently have a run-down of players going on daily. The day they got to # 24, their AD was FIRED for putting Boise State on NCAA PROBATION in football for cheating. I logged in. I said, pardon me, why isn't this blog about THE NEWS OF THE DAY TODAY ?

A Boise State fan, the blog administrator, Nick I think his name is, wrote me an e-mail claiming I was HI-JACKING his blog.

Listen, Boise State has NEVER had an impressive football game, win, ever.

They have won 8 games vs the 6 BCS Conferences in 31 games, 25 percent win percentage.

They have 15 in the NFL.

They have 0 Top 100 recruits the last 5 entire recruiting classes making up their roster to our 21.

They have 1 guy Kellen Moore Scout.com ranked a 4-Star recruit 2007, five years ago and over the same timeframe UGA has 51 either 5-Star or 4-Star recruits. If this is so wrong by Scout.com, is the NFL also a slut to find only 15 Boise State to 45 UGA ?

Boise State avg recruit class rank the last 5 years is # 69 to our # 11.

10 of the 12 regular season games Rivals says avg # 81 for Boise State 2011, all except for TCU and UGA.

Boise State will lose 18-32. This is not because UGA is great as the # 7 team in The SEC; but because the Smurfs are not.

Let me know Nick when I can come say this on your OBNUG censored site. Love reading you Smurfs telling us again what you are going to do to us.

Nick, are you out there ? Got your ears on ?

  9. Boise State says they are great because of 31 games vs the 6 BCS Conferences, they have won 8 :

    Here are all 8.

You tell me if there is a an impressive win over a national championship caliber team ?

Or, if they all 8 are very suspect wins over very suspect opponents, disregarding their 23 Losses in 31 games against ANY of the 6 BCS Conferences

11-3 Choke-la-homa 2007 now is some great NC contender Boise State beat ?

11-3 Virginia Tech 2010 now is some great NC contender Boise State beat # 16 AP Poll ?

5-7 Oregon State 2010 now is some great NC contender Boise State beat ?

10-3 Oregon 2009 now is some great NC contender Boise State beat ?

10-3 Oregon 2008 now is some great NC contender Boise State beat ?

10-4 Oregon State 2006 now is some great NC contender Boise State beat # 21 AP Poll ?

7-5 Oregon State 2004 now is some great NC contender Boise State beat ?

5-6 Oregon State 2005 now is some great NC contender Boise State beat ?

Tell me please which of these 8 wins in 31 games vs the 6 BCS Conferences, are really in your mind wins over some great NC contender ?

  10. Jerry is that you?

  11. All very one sided.

Nevermind that Boise State has also never LOST to any NC title contender as well. It's the way the schedule is set up, stupid.

It's just too bad that Boise State also doesn't have any national title contenders on their schedule this year. Damn Bulldogs....

You sir, deserve a Bleacher Report account.

    ReplyDelete
  12. It's just the way the schedule is set up.

Excuse me. You just changed conferences. You could have joined the PAC-12 or the Big XII. In fact, the Big XII needs you right now today.

    But, no.

You insist on playing Oregon State or other 3-loss or worse teams.

Look at you this season, 2011 ?

    Georgia.

We lost so many games last season, you have to go back to 1953 to find an UGA team who lost more games than we just did last year, 58 years. Who do you play ?

    Alabama ?

    No.

    LSU ?

    No.

    Oregon plays LSU.

    Does Boise State ?

    No.

Just the way the schedule plays out, that you play the # 7 team in The SEC.

    Tired of it.

Mostly, tired of your BS of the highest stinkiest order that you have earned it.

That you are the premier BCS-buster in the land

    with your

8 stinking wins all-time EVER vs the 6 BCS Conferences.

    Take a hike smurfs.

I don't need a Bleacher Report account. I remember you smurfs from 6 years ago, after you went 12-1 and said how great you were then, too.

The year after we played you last, the same QB and same Boise State team, went 14-0.

But, against us, you lost by 5 TD. Same QB. Same Boise State team.

That season, 2005, we ended up the # 3 team in The SEC in the AP Poll. We LOST three (3) games.

But, of course, UGA was some world beater.

    Oh, no.

    We are NOT.

But, the point is you have NEVER BEAT any great team.

    NEVER.

Take your BS back to Nick at OBNUG blog and whine to him that I have NO RESPECT for your LIES that it is just the way the schedules set up.

You play the # 81 team this season all regular season long, every week, according to Rivals, except for TCU and UGA.

    Whose fault is that ?

    Georgia's ?

Get with the program and discuss football on your own blogs where you slap each other on back and tell each other where your offense and defense rank in the NCAA rankings (with your 10 of 12 regular season games against the # 81 team all year this year - except TCU and UGA.)

It's just the way the schedule works out.

Why join such a crappy conference. Conference after conference. And, don't give me this your conference is better than the Big East.

If that is the case, why have you ALWAYS LOST EVERY SINGLE GAME VS THE BIG EAST, LIKE YOU HAVE THE SEC - TOO THEN ?

  13. It would do a great many things if you would have the last word on this "discussion." You're doing far much more damage with your evaluation of college football teams than I or anyone else could do. Goodbye, blogger. Glad to never see you again.

  14. Who cares where Richt starts in the polls, Richt finishes about 9 spots worse every time in AP preseason poll since 2006 except 2007. Man, can't beat the AP Poll but 1 out of 5 tries. Richt's a buffoon.

UGA #4 most overrated progma over last 5 years.

Boise #1 most underrated team over last 5 year sin AP Poll.

Don't take Boise for granted. They're the real deal Lucille.

Don't believe the hype about UGA. They're overrated.
