Now on to Friday. Good day yesterday, with the exception of Utah State and Vandy collectively crapping themselves.
12:15: Oakland vs Texas (CBS). Nothing to see here, move along. Texas big.
12:40: Tennessee vs Michigan (Tru). Ordinarily, I'd have some funny comments about this, but for now, just enjoy the last win of the Bruce Pearl era.
1:40: Akron vs Notre Dame (TBS). Now, that's funny. Take Notre Dame and let the hilarity ensue.
2:10: Villanova vs George Mason (TNT). 'Nova has been a shitshow for more than a month. The show doesn't stop today. I like America's favorite basketball playing patriot to win (sorry Robert Morris).
2:45: Memphis vs Arizona (CBS). 'Zona dominated the Pac-10 on the back of untimely injuries at UW. Look for Memphis' big men to shut down Derrick Williams to get the win.
3:10: Hampton vs Duke (Tru). Now, this is more like a Tru game. You get the legions of Duke fans watching the game, but nothing of consequence will happen. Oh, take Duke and hope Hampton's band gets some airtime.
4:10 FSU vs Texas A&M (TBS). The best football matchup of the tourney (granted Tennessee vs Michigan would be entertaining) features a school who lost at home to Auburn. Both teams are very strong defensively, so a 50-44 blowout wouldn't be out of the question. Take the Aggies, since they didn't lose to Auburn at home.
4:40 UT-San Antonio vs Ohio State (TNT). So, Thad Matta is now the paragon of ethics in Columbus. Sad state of affairs. tOSU wins unless the NCAA shutters the school by 4:30 today.
6:50: Boston U vs Kansas (TBS). I really want Boston's mascots to be the terriers. Kansas has a history of wetting their pants in the past couple of tourneys. It'll be close until the first media timeout.
7:15: Long Island vs UNC (CBS). An island that is known for golf and snooty folks vs. a whole state of basketball crazed people. As R. Perry Sentell would say: "It hardly seems fair."
7:20: St. Peter's vs Purdue (TNT). Tried as I might to get St. Peter's against Morehead in the regional final, I couldn't figure how it would happen. Now, I'll just pick Purdue and move on.
7:27: Marquette vs Xavier (Tru). We'll find out if guard play will carry you in a tournament. Look for Tu Holloway to score 28 of his 32 points in the second half as Xavier wins.
9:20: Illinois vs UNLV (TBS). I can tell you the folks in Champaign are as bearish on the Illini as I have ever seen. I can also tell you they will win tonight so they can lose to Bill Self, because God does have a sense of humor.
9:45: Georgia vs Washington (CBS). As I said, it'll come down to which team keeps the other playing the kind of game they want. I hope it is low scoring and Georgia wins.
9:50: VCU vs Georgetown (TNT). A match-up of two teams going backwards to end the season. The Hoyas will go forward in this one.
9:57: Indiana State vs Syracuse (Tru). Unless Larry Bird is suiting up for the Sycamores, the Orange will roll.
