Tale of Three Halves

Increadible.

If you got to watched the Georgia game last night, it was the game of the night.  Huge comeback for Georgia to tie it at the buzzer to force OT.  Huge three point shot by Florida to force double OT.  Regretfully, Florida had more in the tank at the end.  I can't decide if it was over when Walker hit the three to tie it with a second left to force the second extra period, or if it was over when Georgia went back on the floor to start the second OT and thought "What the hell are we still doing in this game?"

Either way, the Dawgs still have some to go to be considered an elite team.  They are very, very close to being as good as the very best in the conference.

Downside is that Georgia is now in a hole.  Unless they go on a winning jag, they are back to being a bubble team absent an SEC tourney run.  The SEC West is terrible and dragging down the rest of the confernce.  Just looking, I only think four teams are guaranteed to get in from the SEC.  The fifth team will need some luck and extra room on selection Sunday.  There is a lot of basketball to be played, but they have lost three very close games to three of the other teams they are battling with for an invite.

Upside: Georgia was on national TV against a team that has had the national spotlight on them and stood toe to toe.  The Georgia/Florida game upstaged the huge upset in Syracuse and was much better than the yawn fest between Purdue and Tosu.  Georgia basketball is back.

  1. Yeah that ish sucked. Gut-wrenching. The highest of highs and lowest of lows. Reminds me of another UGA/UF sports game that went into overtime.
