I'm Starting to Think

The AJC really does like the Dawgs.  I'll save you the reading, it seems they are treating the Falcons the same way they do the Dawgs.

In case you missed it, the Falcons laid a tremendous turd of a performance last night in the NFL Divisional playoffs to Green Bay.  Hey, it was a great season, one that ended very differently than we thought it might.

So wanna guess what the pundits are saying?  Again, I am here to help.

I'll start with Schultz.  He thinks the season is a failure.  A complete waste.  We don't measure football seasons by regular season anymore.  Only in the playoffs.  Clearly the Falcons are not very good.

The Bradley:  Paul Johnson is a better coach than Mike Smith.  Wait, wait, wait, different post.  He pointed to the GM and his failings on getting talent into Atlanta.

Actually, it was neither. And it was both.  The Falcons are a good team; a very talented team.  Very good, on a bad night.  They just met a team that is nearly as good and having a good night.  Note I said nearly as good.  The Packers and Atlanta are comparable.  Not last night, mind you, but on paper and in their seasons.

Now, the Packers move on and the pundits are left trying to figure out why the Falcons failed so miserably and just how good the Packers are, that is until they lose next, too.

  1. Great post. You hit the nail on the head with what is wrong with the AJC.. they react solely to what is right in front of them. They'll dig back a little if it suits their argument.. but to say the team's performance in the regular season doesn't mean anything.. to say that that they haven't brought in talent... it's ridiculous.

Then again, if they're saying the regular season doesn't matter in the NFL, is there a better argument against a playoff in college football? Hilarious.

  2. I think the Packers have a better squad (2nd best team in the NFL imo and the only one who can beat the Pats), they just ended up with a worse record due to ridiculous injury runs. There's a strong case to be made that they have one of the top 2 qb's in the league right now, and the best defensive player in the league.

That said, you can't call 13-3 a bad season. What a joke. Playoffs are match-up based, and if if Atlanta had drawn Seattle and then Chicago they'd be off to Dallas for the SB.

  3. Gotta say, a very fine Post. The "experts" at the AJC are nothing but the voices for the tower of Babylon.

  4. I agree with the AJC 100%

It was either a Super Bowl or bust especially with our regular season success the last few years

It isn't enough to simply make the playoffs

    Period
