I had every intention of writing a long post breaking down the Liberty Bowl. I took the time to develop some statistical information and evaluate what that meant in the final outcome. I'll probably use some of it later, but one thing stood out to me so much that I couldn't get past it.
Georgia converted no 3rd downs in the second half. After converting 3 of 6 in the first half, they were zero for eight in the second half. Yes, there were some pretty long odds on a few of them, but still, it is emblematic of the non-sense that was Georgia's offense yesterday.
There was no doubt Georgia regressed in the second half, but the fourth quarter was ugly. 3-13 for 46 yards passing. Six runs for -11 yards rushing. Georgia was out gained 80 to 35 on the same number of plays.
Insert your own George O'Leary joke here, but even I'd agree with Mark Bradley if he wrote a patented "Mark Richt got out-coached" column.
