Zach Mettenberger was booted off the UGA football team this weekend, barely a month after being arrested in an alcohol-related "incident" near Valdosta. It also comes one week after the redshirt-freshman asserted himself as a front-runner in the Bulldogs' QB race following a fine statistical showing in the G-Day game.
Richt previously suspended Mettenberger for at least one game pending the outcome of a completed investigation into the Valdosta incident (actually a party district off VSU campus known as Remerton). While police have been tight-lipped about details, blogs elsewhere have alluded to a likely quasi-Ben Roethlisberger situation. Definitely not a good time to be a Berger of any kind.
Good luck Mett. Look forward to seeing you in the next flick with Jonah Hill and Seth Rogan. After all, partying is much better than being the starting QB for a major college football power, right?
