Lady Dawg seeded 5th

And head to Tempe to play 12th seed Tulane.   The Lady Dawgs caught a break and aren't in the UConn side of the bracket.  The top four seeds in the Sacramento side are
  1. Stanford (31-1) - Only loss this season was to UConn in Storrs.  It was UConn's closest game at 80-68. It was the only time this season UConn trailed at the half.
  2. Texas A&M (25-7) - A bit of a head scratcher to me. They finished fourth in their conference but won the Big 12 conference tourney.  Their seven losses came to Baylor (twice), Oklahoma, Nebraska (who is a one seed and has their only loss this season to TAMU in the conf tourney), Texas Tech, TCU, and Oklahoma State.
  3. Xavier (27-3) - With losses to LSU, Michigan and Michigan State, I have to wonder if the Lady Musketeers are way over seeded.  They did beat Mississippi State and Southern Cal early in the season, so they do have some game, but still, losing to a solid LSU and a mediocre Michigan at home doesn't inspire confidence in their two seed.
  4. Oklahoma State (23-10) - The Big 12 this season is what the SEC usually is to women's basketball.  They got seven teams in the tourney this season.  However, this is another curious seed.  They are the highest seeded team with double digit losses.  There is no doubt their schedule is tough, but they are 5-7 since January.
I am not worried about Tulane and we match up well against seeds 2-4, if we are finally healthy. Regretfully, if we beat Oklahoma State, Stanford likely awaits in Sacramento.  However, this is the tournament and anything can happen.

Lady Dawgs play their first game at approximately 10:30 Eastern on Saturday.

Go Dawgs!
