Tyler Smith out at Tennessee

Bruce Pearl drops the hammer on senior forward Tyler Smith.  He was averaging 11.7 points, 4.7 rebounds with 26+minutes per game. The other three players remain on suspention.  All four are to be arraigned next Thursday.

Said Pearl:
"While we are not allowed to discuss specifics, we felt we had enough information at this time to dismiss Tyler Smith from the team. Melvin Goins, Cameron Tatum, and Brian Williams will remain indefinitely suspended."
You have to think Smith is either the truly responsible party and the other three are merely fairly charged, but more for stupidity and disregard for law than any true mens rea.  I also have to wonder if there is more to come out about Smith, the car and the pot.

Smith, for his part, sounded contrite in his release, talking about accepting responsibility, regret for bringing the other three into this incident and a hope to complete school.  As a senior with 12 classes left and a likely NBA career, I don't see that happening.

Tennessee hosts number one Kansas this weekend with only six scholy players.
