Lady Dawgs top Lady Vols

It's all about the defense.  Georgia used it last night to cool down Tennessee's powerhouse offense to win 53-50.   The Dawgs furstrated the Lady Vols, getting to the line 23 times to Tennessee's 6, culminating with Porsha Phillips icing it on two free throws with 14 seconds left, leaving Tennessee to attempt a poorly executed (and well defended) three point shot as time expired.

Congrats and great job, but it is only part of the deal.  This team, which could go down as the best defensive team Coach Landers has ever had, still has a season to finish.  I was talking to Dawgnoxious about past Lady Dawg teams and their tendency to let down after a big win like this.  This team truly feels different than teams the past couple of years, something Coach Landers has made allusions to.  I made the comment yesterday that this game was for the guarantee not to be in the UConn side of the bracket in the NCAA tournament, something I stand by.  That all changes if this team forgets the work that got them here and lets up next game because they have beaten Tennessee (which is a huge deal, mind you).

Go out to support the Lady Dawgs on Sunday at 1pm as Old Miss, looking for respect after a hot SEC start but no ranking, comes to town.

Go Dawgs!
