SEC Bowls

I'll look at Georgia's match up with Texas A&M in the Independence Bowl a bit closer to game time, but I wanted to look at the other SEC match ups as we move into Bowl season.

BCS Championship Game - Alabama vs. Texas:  Now that the Tide has a Heisman Trophy winner, what next?  I'll have more thoughts on it later, but Texas struggled offensively against one very good defensive player in the Big 12 Championship Game.  How will they handle a whole defense full of them?

Sugar Bowl - Florida vs. Cincy:  Cincinnati is playing without a head coach.  Florida is playing without a defensive coordinator.  Look for plenty of points, but I don't see the Bearcats keeping up with the Gators as TGCPE goes out in a blaze of glory.  Over under is about 90...on the number of times Thom Brenneman verbally felates Timmy.

Capital One Bowl - LSU vs. Penn State:  The Hat vs. The Old Man. LSU might have struggled this year, but no one, save an actual D1-AA team, has played a weaker schedule than Penn State.  Look for LSU to light up the Lions.

Cotton Bowl - Ole Miss vs. Oklahoma State: A man vs. A crazy man.  Oklahoma State takes the cake for up and down this season.  Look for them to have an up game against Ole Miss and win in a close one.

Outback Bowl - Auburn vs. Northwestern: The only way this game is less compelling would be if it were Northwestern vs. Vandy.  The only way the colors would be worse would be Boise State vs. Oregon.  At least the coaches' pressers will be interesting.  Auburn in a surprisingly good game.

Chic-fil-A Peach Bowl - Tennessee vs. Virginia Tech:  Awful lot of distractions and such going on in Knoxville.  Look for Virginia Tech to finally get a win in Atlanta for an ACC team.

Music City Bowl - Kentucky vs. North CarolinaClemson:  Dipsy doo baby!  Roudball, y'all. Not so much a great basketball match up.  Clemson is coached by a full grown man that goes by the name Dabo.  Look for UK to announce this is Rich Brooks last game and that the Wildcats will be coached by a full grown man that goes by the name Joker.  Can't say why, but look for the Cats from Kentucky to win in Brooks' last game.

Liberty Bowl - Arkansas vs. Eastern Carolina:  Home game for the Razorbacks.  Second year in a row for the Conference USA Champ Pirates.  My best guess is that Ryan Mallett will put the country on notice he wants to visit New York the second weekend in December next year against the 110th ranked pass defense in the nation. Bowl - South Carolina vs. UConn:  Two evenly matched teams on paper will face off in Birmingham.  Garcia will look like Mallett against a bad pass defense in a Gamecock win.

I'll take a look at all the bowl games later this week.
