I had the chance to chat with a couple of Arizona State fans in the hotel lobby this morning. After having been on the road twice this season, I wanted to get an idea of the mindset of travelers to Athens for a big non-conference game. As it happens to be, they are both at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, making them Devils in Exile. One of them, who wishes to remain nameless, agreed to answer questions.
Where are you from?
How many games do you go to?
2-3 games a year
Aside from Arizona, who is ASUs biggest rival?
USC, but if we can only win one game a year, we want it be 'zona. However, we definitely want to win more than one game.
What did you do last night?
Walked around last downtown and watched Mizzu-Nevada.
What are you looking to do today?
Go to the ASU tailgate, visit campus, get wet, enjoy a good game. Hoping the rain slows down Georgia's passing game. Get wet.
Any comments about Burfict?
He seems like the real deal.
How many ASU fans will be here?
3-4000 (I will say, as an aside, there were a ton of Devil fans out and about on campus and in town last night)
What is it like being Devils in Exile?
It's hell. Being from not SEC country, we get a lot of flack. We see Bama and Auburn fans teaming up on us because we aren't from SEC county.
NCAA football 2010, when I played the game on PSP, the Devils won 27-24. Call it a computer prediction.
